The trust you place in us as a safe place to share information is the most important part of what makes Facebook work. Our goal is to build great products and to communicate clearly to help people share more information in this trusted environment.

Integrity is key. Thanks to FB for reverting back to previous TOS while working on new language. Also, thanks to the user's uprising that alerted FB to need to take this action. Spiritual Sensitivities by Rebbie Straubing

I pulled this quote from "The New Sun" by my teacher of many years ago, Hilda Charlton.

This book was written in 1989, and the children she is talking about are moving into young adulthood. So, if you are in your late teens or early twenties, this statement is directly for you. And it is meant to soothe your spirit and inspire you to not only trust, but embrace your intuitive nature and your role in the evolution of human consciousness.

And if those born about 20 years ago with a deeper and broader intuition are crashing into the hardened belief systems of mass consciousness, what about those of us who smilingly remember young adulthood as we watch our hair turn gray? What about the sensitive souls who have struggled, maybe all our lives in a world that seemed strange and unsympathetic to our sensitivities?

How did you deal with your spiritual perceptions when you were a child growing up in whatever decade you found yourself here? Did you have mentors? Did you feel isolated? The sensitivities of the children can humble us as adults. These young fresh beings have access to something that we may have lost touch with long ago. Let's love and welcome it in our children. Let's revive and nourish it in ourselves. I invite you to be the sensitive, beautiful, spiritual harbinger of the New Age that you most certainly are if you have read this far.

Theresa Foley and the Venice Cat Coalition

The Venice Cat Coalition (VCC) is a group of small cat rescue organizations working together to save the cats of Venice, Florida and nearby communities. The Key West Cat Society (KWCS), a 501 C3 non-profit, was founded by Theresa Foley to help outdoor, homeless, abandoned and feral cats and kittens primarily by means of spay-neuter and Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) programs. The two groups have trapped and fixed hundreds or cats in Key West and dozens in Venice. The Venice Cat Coalition was formed in 2008 to bring together trappers and colony caretakers working with feral cat colonies in South Sarasota County. Theresa's cat rescue organizations are involved in fostering kittens, finding permanent homes for adult cats and kittens, increasing the number of volunteer trappers, teaching members of the public to trap and spay-neuter the cats they feed on their property, and raise funds to pay for more surgeries for cats. Their mission is to "conduct the maximum number of spay-neuter of cats, primarily free-roaming outdoor cats, in the Venice-Englewood-Nokomis area of Sarasota County, and in Key West, Florida, as possible, with the objective of seeing cat euthanasia rates in Sarasota and Monroe Counties drop to 10% per year of all cats turned into or caught by shelters there by 2010."

Ah-Ha Moment at Theresa Foley's Writers' Group in Venice

Theresa Foley read a passage from p. 72 of The Vein of Gold by Julia Cameron at last evening's Writer's Group in Venice, Florida.

"When I teach the concept of creative ceilings," writes Julia about what I had earlier that evening described as my own glass ceiling, "I often talk about Chicago, a city filled with old buildings that feature wonderful, high, ornate pressed-tin ceilings -- ceilings often obscured by a lower, "modern" Styrofoam ceiling. It used to be a game of mine to tap the panels of these Styrofoam ceilings (they weren't really solid) and see what glories they had hiding up above. In many ways, we are a lot like those buildings with the artificially low ceilings. The hidden gifts we believe to be far above our creative capacities are often merely obscured from our view. A tiny whisper of the gift may remain, tapping at our consciousness like a mouse scratching at the ceiling. When we hear the whispered wish of that gift, we say, "Oh, I could never do that! That's so far above my head...."

OMG. Immediately the Light dawned in my consciousness and I perceived the illusion of the ceiling and the gifts hidden above. That was my "Ah-ha" moment.

Like the writing practice I learned and loved from Natalie Goldberg's book about living the writer's life, Wild Mind, our next exercise in class was to write for six minutes about "The Gift". Here is my six-minute essay:

How intriguing to visualize the hidden ceiling above the glass ceiling that I have felt so inadequate to crash through. Suddenly it felt light and airy up there, with smiling faces and cheering crowds who have been waiting for me to climb on up, jump up, rise up to be on a level I have held myself back from. I've known it was me all along, but still, nothing seemed to lift me above until now. I'm enjoying the effortlessness of it all, the floating, joyous feeling of ease and accomplishment I would have thought would come from hard work and breaking glass to force my way in, but the accomplishment that has a sense of knowing and a confidence and also has a joke about it. I'm falling into the arms of the wise ones, my guides and angels and all who have gone before me. It's a celebration and a party. I'm dancing now on what once was the glass ceiling I could not see above.

I am so blessed to have witnessed this great day, even while at home in my living room. It's a day that heralds a new beginning for all the world. Even in the subtle ways this president has conducted himself over the past year, and especially in the past two months, I have confidence the people of the world will perceive the integrity and high ideals put forth by Barack Obama's person, words and actions, and rise to meet the moment with changes in consciousness of like kind. This is my prayer.

This is a time to believe in our highest ideals and act accordingly.

We are One in Spirit. All of us. Everyone.

2009 - Year of Discovery

Personally, I'm declaring 2009 to be a Year of Discovery, although a lot of words capture the essence of this point in time for me: Beauty, Attunement, Patience, Refinement, Focus, Cooperation, Discipline, Fun, Friendship and Consideration. It's "year 2" in my current 9-year cycle. This year I will continue assimilating the new attitudes and understanding I embraced in 2008 with regards to having awareness of my vibration and where I'm putting my focus. In all situations and circumstances, I will strive to see good (rather than fault), beauty (without needing to fix anything), and the perfectness of what I have (rather than noticing lack). In 2009, I will continue to enjoy discovery of all things new, beautiful and interesting, and will continue my commitment to live life as a grand adventure. I'll relax, develop my skills & talent, be receptive to others, enjoy my relationships with friends (old and new) and family, take things slowly, and keep the big picture in mind as I navigate through the year. Thanks for being a part of my world. May your life and mine be blessed in all ways in 2009. May your business and mine thrive on all levels in 2009. May the world and all living things know the peace that surpasses understanding.
